Oh what a meaty and juicy quote. How important it is to appreciate everything in love, whether it be the gorgeous and grandiose events, the tiny and seemingly trivial treasures, or the masks that hide the real beauties-it has been ingrained in me since the womb to never take anything for granted.
Upon moving to the East Village, (13th and Third for those of you who have yet to visit), I began to take notice of the many stylistic elements surrounding me. The striking modernity of the buildings going up on my block, the “hole in the wall” style boutiques lining the side streets of the village, but what caught my eye was the street art I found in the hidden crevices of the street. Attached are my own photographs (gotta love being an amateur with an iPhone-oh the wonders it can do) from downtown by the Williamsburg bridge, to the intersection of Spring and Lafayette, to the West Side Highway, street art (yes, a nicer term for graffiti) spans the city. Whether it be deemed legal or as a felony, an outlet for the creative mind or just a mess scribbled on the city’s brick structures, street art can be appreciated as adding another layer to our Big Apple-an artist’s haven.
