Reconstruction at Lincoln Center

What did you do?

We went to Lincoln Center and filmed the construction scaffolding that surrounds the front of the building. We used dipity and youtube to create a brief timeline of the reconstruction.

Why did you choose it?

It simply struck us as interesting. We had seen Lincoln Center before and had never asked about the construction going on there.

What did you learn?

How to create timelines on dipity and that Lincoln Center is 16. 3 acres.

1.  For our project we used the flip cam and the iMovie editor.

2. We had used the technology on a previous basis, and we thought that we would need more practice using the iMovie application. We thought collectively as a group that the iMovie application was the most appropriate.

3. We learned how to use the title card option.

Fresh Experience.

1. What did you do?

We explored Fresh on the corner of 67th Street and Columbus Avenue.

2. Why did you choose it?

We choose it because Fresh is known for their high quality products since 1981.

3. What did you learn?

Fresh is a fairly new company created by a couple from Boston who had their own shop. Unsatisfied with soap retailers in the market, they experimented and created their own lines of soap using sugar for the first time in history. Barney’s bought some of their soaps to sell and from there, Fresh flourished by word of mouth. And to this day, they are combining natural ingredients with technologies of science in order to bring a different experience for beauty and skin care.

Some of their famous products include innovated Brown Sugar Body Line, Sake Body Wash(with actual 60% real Sake), and their best selling Rose Butter Lip Balm. We tried these products ourselves and they’re amazing. You should try them too!

Indian Burial Grounds Under Lincoln Center?

What did you do?

Interviewed a few employees (only one of them helpful >.>) about Lincoln Center and its events.

Why did you choose it?

Our subconscious egos were attracted to the largest building in the area like moths are attracted to a Daft Punk light show.
What did you learn?

That the Lincoln Center’s events go beyond just the opera and theater. Also, no Indian burial ground, but we think that Free Masons, Reptilians, or the Decepticons are somehow involved. Possible B grade action movie level plot may be present.

AMC Loews Theater Lincoln Square

We researched the closest movie theater to the Macaulay Honors College Building- AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13. WE chose this topic because we were all interested in this theater, film, and generally watching movies. We learned to work together efficiently and the long history of AMC Loews and this particular theater.

I Found God on the Corner of 65th and Columbus

What did you do?

-We filmed the exterior of temple, went inside and spoke to two Mormon missionaries. However, we had to adhere to the strict rules of the temple and could not go in further than the main entrance. To proceed we would have needed an authorized letter from the Mormon president. We also asked a young Mormon couple about their experiences.

Why did you choose it?

-We thought it’d be interesting to explore a religious space located in such a busy and metropolitan area.

What did you learn?

-In addition to learning about their strict rules, we also learned that the interior of the temple was built with consideration to the hustle and bustle of the city (windows and walls, for example, are soundproof).

Project Z: Contemporary Critique of Zara (the Prequel)

We are Paul Alzate, Grace Prestamo, and Motahara Whab and are all from Queens. For this project, we chose to learn about the clothing store Zara: the style of clothing that is sold, the type of people that patronize the store , the prices as compared to other retailers, and the satisfaction of the clientele and the employees. Through this small project, we also learned the various facets of iMovie, like the tools it provides to the modern filmmaker, and cool things like flipping clips over in editing mode.

Why did we choose this project? Well, obviously to learn about Zara and advance our skills with the technology Macaulay gives us. Our motivation wasn’t affected at all by the fact that we originally wanted to do our project on ABC, and had to come up with an alternative plan. No! We love Zara! 🙂

We learned about not only iMovies, and the process of recording a video, but we also learned about ourselves and our limitations. Grace learned that she can interview like no else, Motahara learned she can narrate introductions eloquently, and Paul learned that he can be a cameraman if his hands didn’t shake so much.

America May Run on Dunkin but NY Runs on Coffee

As a group we traveled to all the coffee houses around the 67th St Macaulay building to learn the importance coffee has on New Yorkers. We learned that EVERYBODY drinks coffee and that sometimes the small coffee houses are friendlier. We choose this because we love coffee!

Tavern on the Green: Death of an Institution

1) What did you do?
We toured Tavern on the Green and its surroundings to discover its importance!

2) Why did you choose it?
We chose Tavern on the Green because of its iconic New York presence. Its keynote location makes it an important part of the 67th street project.

3) What did you learn?
We learned about the historical and cultural significance of this dying institution to the Upper West Side. Watch our video to learn more!
