Long Gone Footsteps

Long Gone Footsteps

City Lights, its 10 pm
Walking the streets alone again
Don’t know why I try to retrace
Long Gone footsteps

What’s barely left of you and me
Is covered by the autumn leaves
Something leads me to the path that
I can’t forget

High heels
White pearls
And a shiny light blue dress
He tells me I’m beautiful
But inside I’m a mess

I wonder if he knows
Does he know?
I’m crazy about him
Too many feelings I can’t ignore
Unfinished songs
Meaningful words
Left to fade away
But we just can’t have it all
And some things never
Change.

Downtown, nothing to say
We’re heading down to the cabaret
That cello moans but all we hear is
Long gone footsteps

Adrenaline going the speed of light
Flashbacks play in black and white
In the back of my mind
All I find is
Love stained secrets

I wonder if he knows
Long ago
I was crazy about him
And all there’s left in silence
Spinning all around us
Time only makes things fade
You once walked into my path
And that will never change
No, those footsteps never change
