New York City Data and GIS

Maps provide an excellent tool to represent your research visually and perform spatial analysis.  In addition, NYC provides a wealth of neighborhood-level datasets and other resources that are available to the public and are compatible with GIS software. These slides provide:

1. a brief introduction to geographic information systems (GIS)

2. information on where to access NYC datasets, and

3. and a tutorial on a Mac compatible GIS, MyWorld, using NYCDOHMH's Community Health Survey data.
