Evaluation Criteria

The following criteria will be used by external and internal experts to evaluate your group project:

  • Problem: Describe the problem that you are trying to solve. Why is it relevant to New York City?
  • Solution: What is your proposed innovative solution? Why is it important for New York City? How will it be implemented in the field?
  • Innovation: How is the idea new and innovative?
  • Based in Evidence: How is your solution evidence-based? Why will it work?
  • What is the Expected Impact? What will be the outcomes, and what metrics will be used to measure the outcomes?
  • Management and Financing: Who will lead the social enterprise? What are the proposed or anticipated funding sources or revenues?
  • Your “Ask”: How are you hoping to advance your idea by presenting a pitch to an expert audience? If the audience is sold on your idea, how can they invest human or financial resources into your project?  Do you need funds to launch or scale your project?  Would you like feedback on a specific component of your idea?  Are you seeking advisors or local partners?
  • Quality: Your e-portfolio should be visually appealing and user-friendly. All parts must be well-written and demonstrate thought and attention to detail. Avoid jargon and be sure that your audience understands exactly what you are proposing. Multimedia are a plus.
