Tuition Waivers

All students are advised to review their CUNYfirst accounts to note if the aid status is correctly indicated (i.e. all aid posted, all aid not posted, incorrect amount of aid posted in excess of tuition, ineligible for Macaulay tuition waiver posted for a self- funded semester, refund not processed). Any student with a question about their aid for their bill is advised to send an e-mail for review of their account information.  E-mails must be sent to Macaulay Honors Financial Aid MacaulayHonorsFinAid@brooklyn.cuny.edu and copied to Mgrant@brooklyn.cuny.edu

Reminder: Macaulay tuition formula used to determine eligibility when reviewing CUNYfirst account:  Allowable Tuition – (TAP-+TAP Waiver + CUSTA+ HESC Scholarships + Vallone/NYC Merit Scholarship + PELL + SEOG + Other Scholarships)  if a tuition balance = MHC Tuition Waiver

A Few Reminders:

  • Students must have filed their 2023-2024 FAFSA and TAP applications and completed any follow up processes required. Those applications were available as of October 1, 2022.
  • Students not full time for a Fall or Spring semester must have approval indicating their eligibility for the MHC tuition waiver from Macaulay Central (copy of approval e-mail must be sent to MacaulayHonorsFinAid@brooklyn.cuny.edu and copied to Mgrant@brooklyn.cuny.edu).
  • Students should apply the Macaulay tuition formula to determine eligibility when reviewing their account:  Allowable Tuition – (TAP-+TAP Waiver + CUSTA+ HESC Scholarships + Vallone/NYC Merit Scholarship + PELL + SEOG + Other Scholarships) if a tuition balance = MHC Tuition Waiver
  • Students allowed 1 course (up to 4 credits) in the winter.  (The Macaulay formula is applied to determine tuition waiver eligibility. Credits above the allowable amount are not considered for the Macaulay tuition waiver.) First year students may not take winter classes.
  • Students participating in a study abroad program for the winter with special approval from Macaulay Central can be considered for a maximum of 6 credits. (The Macaulay formula is applied to determine tuition waiver eligibility. Credits above the allowable amount are not considered for the Macaulay tuition waiver.)
  • Students are allowed up to a total of 8 credits for the summer. (The Macaulay formula is applied to determine tuition waiver eligibility. Credits above the allowable amount are not considered for the Macaulay tuition waiver.)
  • Students approved for additional semesters in the Macaulay Program under the self-funded status must report if the Macaulay tuition waiver posts to CUNYfirst in order that it can be removed.
  • Students who do not have financial aid in excess of their tuition charges are responsible for paying their student fees, materials/lab fees and change of program fees.
  • Students should check prior semesters on CUNYfirst to ensure information is also up to date.
