Home at AIDS

I picked this picture from all others because of the emotions that get surfaced from the young lady in the picture. Her mother had died from HIV, even though she belonged to an ethnic group who were said to have a low probability contracting the disease. This picture had surprised me in showing that nobody was safe from this sickness. In the picture, it is apparent that the young lady sitting on the floor, in the wedding dress, is the daughter of the dead mother. The daughter seems to be contemplating how to live on in such a cruel life. The daughter seems to scatter around all of her mother’s belonging to learn more about her, only to cause her more grief than the satisfaction of knowing her identity. Even the lighting in the room seems to infer that she’s a ray of sunshine that is about to be devoured by the surrounding darkness. The feeling of hopelessness and despair really struck me personally.
