Fall for Dance is a game changer. I have always intellectually struggled with quantifiable assessing the true value of arts, yet emotionally the connection to and importance of art, in its different forms, remained clear. Fall for Dance, while not a total answer, convinced me of a more identifiable worth of the arts. The late night New York scene and interpretation of really eclectic but brilliantly choreographed pieces suggest to me that experiencing art enables the audience to access facets within themselves which may be otherwise repressed or unknown. While this may be extremely subjective in each person, as a phenomenon the value of experiencing stimuli as a break from the status quo can give an individual a very special opportunity to be innovative and creative. Art perhaps it not just a representation of life or an escape from it, rather and channel for us to further see ourselves.

I appreciate the issues and questions you raise in this post–lots for us to discuss. (How) can we ever quantify that which is necessarily qualitative?
