I chose the flannels not only because I own flannels, but because it’s fall, and flannels are a fall staple. Fall is the time where wearing flannels and plaid is socially accepted (not that wearing such patterns is not acceptable in other seasons, but they’re mainly a fall thing), which ties into some relationships that the MOMA exhibition considers. Fashionably speaking, I believe the flannel is a closet staple, meaning that everyone should have a flannel of some sort in their wardrobe. In my opinion, it’s a style that never really goes out of style and has grown to be a part of the culture and aesthetic of fall fashion.
