Madama Butterfly Reaction

I like to think that in comparison to most people, I was one of the few who were actually excited to go to the Met Opera. Although I was skeptical of how the actual opera would be, I enjoyed the experience overall. I loved the atmosphere of the Met: being all dressed up and in the city on a Monday night. And while the opera was long, I felt that the time really flew by.

In regards to the opera itself, I was not the biggest fan of the plot. I was frustrated with Butterfly and how she felt that she needed Pinkerton in order to live. I wanted to scream at her and tell her that she deserved better. But otherwise, I enjoyed the show and the staging very much. I was blown away by the set designs and props used; it was all very pretty.

Lastly, I want to mention how I loved the aesthetic of the silhouettes in the opera and I was pleasantly surprised to see the use of them in the show after I had a photo taken of my own silhouette by the fountain.
