Jabbawockeez get scared because Michelle Dorrance is in town and she is not playing with myelination. My initial reaction to discovering we would see the world premier was what is myelination. I’m sure others had the same question as well but do not fret I have looked it up. Myelination is actually a process is developmental brain process which impacts the nervous system helping you move faster, and boy did they move fast. I’m going to start with my personal bias and how I was proved wrong. I watch this show called world of dance which encompasses dances from all over the world and the tap dances are always the most boring. So going into this performance I had low expectations until I heard that beat drop. I heard the relationship of hip-hop and jazz and hip-hop hypes me up so I was on the edge of my seat then when I realized their feet were making the beats I was in awe. I found it beautiful that their dance was creating the music. I also saw a connection to b-boy (breakdancing) those twists shocked me because I was NOT expecting that from a tap dancing group but expect the unexpected. Another factor that stood out to me was that there was actual chemistry between the dancers. No disrespect to the ballet dancers but it seemed very disconnected everybody was dancing in pairs but nobody was dancing together, you get me? It was beautiful and shocking how a body can contort in those ways but I personally think a connection is important to dance especially in paired dancing. I saw a connection between everybody in myelination which impressed me due to the amount of dancers in the performances. I also admired the dances after the one with all members which focused on color and emotion. As I’ve stated before in I think all my posts I associate colors with mood and when the screen turned red I knew it was about to go down! The main dancer during this dance seemed to be dealing with an internal conflict which I gathered from her hand movements and her inability to decide what side to go to a lesser of two evils type of situation. There was also a very punk rock as professor Eversley would say guitar solo which was dope in the way it was incorporated into the dance. Goes to show that dance knows no barriers. The dancer then exited and the screen turned purple and a more calm dance proceeded. Overall this was a fascinating dance to watch it was exciting and fun and even I wanted to get up and dance with them, I sat there and wondered why I wasn’t learning tap dance. This was a great performance 10/10 would recommend.
