Alas, this was our last time seeing each other… in this class, see you guys during finals 🙁 (sidenote: good luck to everybody on their finals I’m so proud of our achievements)

Before going to see twelfth night I was informed that she’s the man is inspired by William Shakespeare Twelfth Night which made me even more excited!!! She’s the man was my favorite movie when I was younger my favorite scene being when Amanda Bynes character stuck a tampon up her nose. Anyways, back to the play I definitely saw the similarity between the two. But I also saw various differences which I was not expecting. I enjoyed the over dramatization of the acting because it helped me put the pieces together… for the most part. If it wasn’t for that I would’ve been completely confused because I’ve never understood Shakespearian English.

My favorite character by far was Sir Toby he was hilarious. In relation to Sir Toby, my favorite scene was when Sir Toby and his friends decided to send a letter to Malvolio (who was a party pooper am I right?) which told him to dress up wearing a crazy outfit. I completely lost it when Malvolio came out and everybody was claiming that he was possessed the crucifixes were a nice touch as well.

Now as for the parts I find odd. I find it odd that Sebastian decided to marry Olivia who was a complete stranger like what??? I mean I ain’t saying he’s a gold digger but he ain’t messing with no broke women so if the shoe fits. Also, I’d love to see an update on the two of them did they actually fall in love? Did they end up hating each other? If so did they decide to kill each other that sounds very Shakespearian because a divorce is simply not dramatic enough.

Also, I expected to see Viola cry when she found her brother cry instead she decided to get a job like yes you need money to survive but maybe I missed it but I didn’t see her grieve her brother’s death. Ignoring the loss of somebody close to you is not the best coping method. I understand it’s supposed to be a romantic comedy but I feel like it would’ve made Viola’s character seem more like a real person. Overall although I barely understood the play I enjoyed the aspects I did understand.
