My last art experience was a Lil Yachty concert at Terminal 5. The experience was extremely memorable, as Lil Yachty is one of the most popular up and coming rappers today. He is only twenty years old, so he often sings about things that people my age can relate to or remember. He is known for including songs and beats from popular video games and television shows from the early to mid 2000s. He has used the beats from the theme songs of shows like Charlie Brown and Rugrats, and also from video games, such as Super Mario Bros and the opening screen from Nintendo’s GameCube.
Lil Yahty provided a fun and energetic environment when he performed hits such as One Night, Minnesota, and iSpy. The concert was my first in Manhattan, and will always be a very memorable moment from my first week of college.
This is a video of one of Lil Yachty’s first hits, and one of his most popular songs.

I think it’s so great that Lil Yachty was your last interaction with art. I feel that today, not many people consider rap to be art but this is not a valid claim. Rap reminds me of a mix between poetry and any other type of music and is a unique form of art. I don’t believe we should devalue any form of art because when we do so we are stripping art of its impeccable power.

I would say when I first listened to Yachty, it was very unpleasant. It took a few while before I started bumping to his music, well mainly because of peer pressure. But, I really admire the way he carries himself. As you said, he is very energetic and laid back. He never seems to care about what others are saying.
One of his great works is the song iSpy. I just love listening to the song’s opening dialogue between Kyle and him. I also think he dresses fly. I never saw a guy rocking the color red and Nautica clothes the way he does.
