Marching band has been the greatest experience of my life to date.
In my freshman year of high school, I decided to join the competitive marching band. Although I was hesitant at first, a few of my friends ultimately convinced me to join. That summer, I experienced my first year at band camp. After facing a week of grueling 7-hour rehearsal days, comprised of marching and memorizing music, I grew closer with new students in my grade, as well as those in the grades above me. That year, my classmates and I had memorized an entire 8-minute rendition of The Sound of Music. We were incredibly determined to win our final competition at MetLife Stadium. Little did we know our show was not as good as we had thought. We ended up coming in last place at that competition. The positive outcome, however, was that we acquired an even stronger desire to win.
By working hard as a family for two years, our band ended up winning the final competition my junior year. We worked extraordinarily hard before, during, and after band camp to perfect our show of Cirque du Soleil.
Being part of marching band taught me to be competitive, adventurous, musical, artistic, and most importantly, an active team player. Without being part of such a fun, loving, and ambitious community, I would not be the person I am today.

What is your favorite song to play? Also who is your favorite star wars character?

Not gonna lie, I enjoy playing songs from the Disney movie “Frozen.” I’m bad at picking a single favorite, but I would have to say that I’m a big fan of Jar Jar Binks and General Grievous.
