Paradise on a Garage Door

IMG_20131001_131409

I felt like I was in paradise when I saw this on  a garage nearby our school, somewhere in between Lexington and Park Avenue. I always walk past all types of graffiti, but I completely came to a stop when  I saw this. It was too pretty to leave behind without capturing it. I looked at this picture and I thought about Florida, where I spent most of my childhood, mostly by the beach with the family on the afternoons. The best thing about Florida was the palm trees. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a palm tree anywhere else in the country. The other thing about this picture is that I can’t even say that its a form graffiti, because its just way too nice, and makes me feel like I need a vacation….quick!

Hey Lubna. I have also visited Florida on several occasions because I have a lot of relatives that currently reside there. I find that the palm trees are in fact one of the major contributing factors to the Florida beauty. I think this graffiti, like all graffiti is art and should be treated as so. I really hope that they don’t take it down or paint over it like they did the 5 pointz site. Great post and graffiti is supposed to be this nice on a lot more occasions because it truly is a marvel and adds to the character of the New York streets.

I love this; I definitely see the resemblance to Florida too.. and your post just makes me miss it even more. I think it’s interesting how someone decided to put a work of graffiti that depicts an environment that is quite hard to find in NYC. It’s sort of ironic in a way, how they put it in the streets of NYC too, since I believe NYC doesn’t have palm trees and has a rushed environment, compared to this calm atmosphere that is captured in this.
