Hey everyone! After reading the chapter “Chelsea Hotel” from Just Kids I became very interested with the building itself. Below is an older image of the building:
While the photo may not be iconic, the building certainly is. We are learning much of the building through Just Kids, the history of it, and the many now-famous artists who once dwelled within the walls of the hotel. Because of this, I wanted to see a picture of the building and was stunned by the beauty surrounding the building. The structure is massive, with beautiful ornately detailed railings surrounding the building. Today, the Chelsea Hotel still exists but as a much more expensive, luxury-type hotel.
The Chelsea Hotel can be found at 222 W 23rd St. I hope to go see the building in-person soon.
