The first painting is called “The Persistence of Memory” by Salvador Dali. It features a landscape of a beach in a barren land with clocks. There is a certain amount of use of shadowing to help create the effect that it is not midday, but rather dawn or dusk. There are ants on one of the clocks. The monstrous creature in the center of the picture draws considerable attention to the viewer of the painting, and compliments the wrinkled and deformed clocks to create a rather unique painting. The ocean is a nice blue and the sky has a nice mixture of colors.

The second painting is called “Agapanthus” by Claude Monet. The painting consists of a pretty mesh of similar colors that beautifully blend together. The painting is in portrait and has lavender flowers on top of green grass. Both paintings have a topic of nature. There aren’t any creatures in Monet’s painting, compared to the painting created by Dali. Monet’s painting has a lot of movement in how its strokes create a swirling type of motion, while Dali’s painting is fairly stoic with no signs of movement in the sea. There is a feeling of life in Monet’s painting, compared to the banal and barren feelings in Dali’s painting.
