Greek migration to the USA began in the 1880s. Eventually many groups, including the Greeks, would come to call Astoria home. Astoria is now the neighborhood with the largest Greek population in the USA. Over the past hundred years Greek immigration patterns have changed and so too has the generational make up of Greeks in Astoria. A walk through Astoria demonstrates its multiethnic composition via flags, restaurants, and community centers.  While some choose to remain in Astoria, others moved to suburban areas once they experience upward mobility. Nonetheless, the demographics of Astoria are ever changing and an important aspect of Greek immigrant life in New York.
