Academic Survey of Campus Sustainability: Indiana University

October 12th, 2012 · 1 Comment · Brooklyn College

Ruseva, Tatyana . Academic Survey of Campus Sustainability . Diss. Indiana University , 2007 . Print.

The author is Tatyana Ruseva, who is likely to be a student at Indiana University. The academic survey focuses on environmental  literacy at Indiana University. It falls under the “Education, Outreach, and Student Engagement” group of the IU Task Force for Sustainability. This means that the author’s intended audience are students at Indiana University.

The article has a pro-sustainability bias. The strength of the article is that it is the most student oriented sustainability article that I have read, and it includes sustainability related academic programs and coursework and extracurricular activities relating to student residential and cultural life. It focuses strongly on the social pillar of sustainability in addition to the environmental pillar. The weakness of the article is that it does not include the economic pillar, which includes the cost factor of campus sustainability. The material is relevant to the research in my project because it could be used as a guide to interviewing students in activities relating to sustainability at Brooklyn College.
