Egan, Timothy. “The Greening of America’s Campuses.” The New York Times. The New York Times, 08 Jan. 2006. Web. 14 Oct. 2012. .
This is an article written by Timothy Egan, a journalist for the New York Times who, as the New York Times website points out, “writes frequently about the environment.” This article was written in order to educate readers on the many different movements going on across the country on college campuses that are aimed to make each of them more sustainable. These movements include the creation of green residential buildings, curriculum based around sustainability, and solar-powered houses. The true value in this article lies in the fact that Egan was able to give not only readers, but also, school officials, almost a list of the different ideas that there has been on the idea of sustainability. This not only shows people what they could do to make the world a more “green” place, but also could spark people to develop new ideas on the subject. There is also very little bias by Egan, as he does not appear to be attached to one school or idea or another.
Good job researching the author. Think about how this can be integrated into the PodWalk.
