As students were finally able to visit the Macaulay honors College for the first time since Spring 2020, Macaulay Theater Club and Macaulay Content Creators came together to create the student-created, written, and produced parody of Saturday Night Live. The show was written, filmed, and edited during the fall semester and was premiered on YouTube on November 20, 2021.

As pandemia continued, Macaulay Theater Club recognized that students were going through a lot, resulting in the Spring 2021 semester being more laid back with less rehearsal-heavy productions and events. The Legally Blonde movie script reading took place on Friday, February 26th, and The Princess Bride movie script reading took place on Friday, March 26th. Both took place on zoom, with lots of fun and chaos ensuing.

In a time of unrest for all students, members of the club, and the entire world, we wanted to make sure that through these rough times we were able to put together a piece full of love, support, and talent (of course) to present for audiences in a virtual format. The cabaret was streamed on YouTube as a combination of pre-recorded songs that coordinated with our theme of “Opposites Attract”.

Because of COVID-19, The Importance of Being Earnest was performed via scene readings on zoom. A historic moment for the theatre club, while also still lots of fun.
Pippin

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power. In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day.
Robin Hood

This hilarious and exhilarating drama combines the various folklore surrounding the character Robin Hood. The play allows to journey with the title character and his merry men through endless wit and banter. Robin and his band confront the scheming sheriff and the power-hungry King John in order to embrace justice. Through every sword fight and laugh, his engaging tale transports each audience member into Robin Hood’s story.
Godspell

A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
Fairy Tale Courtroom

This comedy shows the other side of several familiar fairy tales, when two of their biggest villains, the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch, are brought to trial. Both the Wolf and the Witch have been frolicking from fairy tale to fairy tale, wreaking havoc as they try to prevent the general public from living happily ever after. Hear the personal accounts of what happened, told in testimonies and flashback sequences, as each trial unfolds.
Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach… and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach, among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities. Thanks to James’ quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family.
