Bensonhurst, Brooklyn is a neighborhood that houses many cultures ranging from Chinese to Russian. But there is one community that seems to be expanding in Bensonhurst, and that is the Latinos. For the past few decades or so, there has been a rise of the Latino population in Bensonhurst, and although there is a fair mix of individuals from Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Ecuador, it seems that a huge part of the Latino population in Bensonhurst is Guatemalan or Mexican.

A large amount of the Mexican population seem to originate from Puebla, Mexico while the many of the Guatemalan population trace their origins back to the Guatemalan highlands; specifically, many appear to come from Totonicapán, a region of the Guatemalan highlands.
