Population Overgrowth

This week I had the pleasure of visiting my favorite man in the world, my little cousin. His name is Brian and he is only two years old. Doesn’t speak a drop of english but has already speaking to his mother in Italian, since she is a native Italian, and Albanian to our grandparents. This week during class I was presented with a shock, people don’t want kids. It was new information to me. Although, I cannot speak for a major chunk of the population or vice versa with opposite views but it was crazy to me to think that at this day and age, people do not want children. People would rather achieve their own self happiness, than a kid’s. It sounds cruel to say, however, I completely understood everyone’s point of view. Why bring a kid into this world if you don’t think it’s worth it and/or can support one? Why not just have your own self happiness? It furthered the concern of children in this world. Overpopulation is a huge concern in this world. Can we support everyone? Can we feed everyone? Can everyone be healthy and happy? However, they can’t… chance are they never will. There will always be an increasing population as people birth children for their own needs. In countries where wealth is short and technology is poor, people depend on the birth of many of their children to work for them at just a young age of 4 years old. They begin getting food, water and taking care of the family at such a small age since they are young and full of life. It makes you appreciate what you have 100 times more. The presentation this week was a great one, and I believe it raised a major concern. With the damage we are doing to this planet everyday, can we afford to have more people on this planet?
