My name is Alon Bezalel and I grew up in Jamaica, Queens. I live in one of the only Afghan Jewish communities in the world where we speak both Farsi and Hebrew. I am a student at Baruch College and am majoring in Biological Sciences. I went to the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County where I learned under a dual curriculum of English and Hebrew subjects. This led me to my gap year in Israel where I was able to develop and identify my path in life and explore all its famous sites.
I currently work as a tutor while, simultaneously, balance a life of playing sports, hanging out with friends and volunteering at my community center. In the summertime, I traveled to various cities in Europe and worked in various real estate development companies. My goal for the near future is to develop my own company where I could positively affect the people around me while being able to make a living. This could be expanding my own tutoring company or creating something new but I know that the ideas will come from my experiences I’ve been through and the ideas I picked up from the educational institutions I attended.
