Sustain The Path More Traveled

Many sidewalks close down due to construction on new buildings as well as due to a new plan that was released by New York City which discussed the creation of sustainable sidewalks. This mainly focused on the transportation policy which would allow for a more moble and attractive bus and walkway system. Giving more attention to the public realm shows that the city to some extent cares about the safety of the people as well as the aesthetic beauty of walking in New York City. As I walk through this path every day, not only do I find it inconvenient but I think about the city’s ability to work on projects which might be more important, especially long term.

On a macro scale, everyone walks on sidewalks and have a way of getting around the city but instead of focusing on closing the sidewalk and maintaining the safety of the sidewalks along with its aesthetic beauty how about making a change that might help the environment. After all, the path which everyone is going to have to go through is the world itself which is being destroyed at the moment. The main idea I see from such a picture is that we are guided in certain directions by what our surrounding say (“sidewalk closed”) yet, there are too few signs which direct us towards a better and more sustainable world which everyone has to walk through at some point.
