I took this picture yesterday, not too far from Baruch. Steam provides heat and cooling to many buildings in New York. Clouds of condensation often rise from manholes in Manhattan through “chimneys” like the one in the picture (steam vapor is being vented through a stack). This can be caused by external water being boiled by contact with the steam pipes or by leaks in the steam system itself. I used a black&white filter because I think this situation is nothing new. We are constantly reminded that New York City’s steam system is an unstable one and needs to be fixed.

I really like the black-and-white vibe you have going on.
My NYC mantra is ‘another day, another delay.’
