What do you see going on in this work of art? Is there a story depicted?

So basically, you see how the sun has a ton of roots coming from it so we’re all from the same place we’re all children of the sun. Even though we all branch out and have different interests we all originate from the same place New York/Brooklyn.

What different visual elements (ie: line, color, light, proportions, scale, composition, media type etc.) do you notice, and how do they help you make sense of the artwork?

Lines in the painting, and so that helps me depict them as roots and the different contrast and color shows are different journeys in life.

What choices do you think the museum made about the object’s display?

The museum made a choice about giving this painting its own wall, to show the significance of the interconnectedness of society.
