Hi guys…just a quick question regarding my paper
Would you suggest giving specifics of an abortion law or just stating certain “relevant” aspects of it…by specific I mean as to who can perform the procedure and where (so basically the requirements of an abortion clinic or the type of doctor who can and the level of experience he needs). I am a bit ambivalent because stating all that might be too much for the paper. But then again due to these requirements there is an issue of accessibility of such doctors/clinics which would then impede on reproductive rights of women. Although I mentioned accessibility as an issue, I’ll probably just briefly (in a few paragraphs) or so discuss it during in my solution section since it is not the crux of my essay.
Does that make any sense? If so, what do you recommend?
Thanks

Hey Nandini!
I think that you could incorporate specifics of the law as these aspects that are relevant to your argument. However, you probably should only consider exploring a few that best reveal how cultural values and traditions, or even Western influences that fail to account for the importance of these factors, have directly affected the legal structure of abortion, which is highly flawed.
At least for me, I also sometimes feel the need to incorporate everything into my thesis, in an attempt to make sure that no bases are left uncovered. Most of the time, I stop myself though, realizing that it’s totally unnecessary to write about something in my thesis just for the sake of overcompensation or reporting. Trust yourself to leave the irrelevant or extraneous information out. I am highly confident of your choices. =)

hey chris!
thanks for the advice…i think i just might try seeing how that works out and in any case hopefully during one of the reviews if adding all those details is too much I can always remove it I suppose…
