Only in America!

It’s hard to document the conglomerate of thoughts that come to mind when I think of the phrase “Only in America.” Similarly, the country itself is a melting pot of cultures, ideas, beliefs, music, dances, foods, and much more. Many people, like my family, come here looking for new opportunities and freedoms. Others come to this country just looking for a change, attracted by the array of people, stores and unique places. It is fantastic to live in a country that offers so much because there is always something new to explore.

It is also interesting to see how people unite on the blog, “Humans of New York.” The site photo documents people from New York City who come from all different walks of life. People from across the world gather online to observe the unique blend of individuals who live here. It is truly fascinating to see how New York epitomizes the freedoms in America. Certainly, living in the melting pot of NYC, it is easy to think that all of America is crazily diverse. Perhaps other parts of the country aren’t as integrated as say NYC or LA, but these are cities in America that highlight the multicultural society we live in.

What is most astonishing to me about America is that in our country we have so many cultures, yet we have also come together to form our own entity. For instance, just this past weekend we celebrated Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday. During this time, we rely on a groundhog in Pennsylvania to predict the weather, and 111 million of us tune in to watch a football game, it’s quite mind-blowing, but that’s America for you.
