I really liked the short story I Have no Mouth and I must Scream. I feel that was the story I enjoyed the most out of all the ones we read so far. I feel AM was really creative in coming up with new ways to torture the humans; ways that I had never even thought of before. Throughout the story, Ted kept thinking he was sane; however, I wonder how jaded his viewpoint was. The way I saw it, he was very amiable to his fellow prisoners, but then the next moment, he would feel as if everyone was against him and hated him. I feel AM had manipulated him in ways he didn’t even realize. I was really surprised by the way this ended. In a way, I kind of viewed it as the success of good over evil, as Ted could have chosen to end his own life and left the others to the long suffering, but instead he choose to destroy AM’s playthings at his own expense.

To me, Weyr Search came across as more of a fantasy rather than a science fiction story. Even though this story took place in another planet, the whole feudal system with dragons reminded too much of the fantasy novels I’d read. Science fiction stories have always been a possible alternative for our future, however, moving to a planet where we have dragons, who choose their humans by some mythical force, can teleport and also communicate telepathically with their humans seemed to far- fetched to me. If the author had given a more scientific explanation of how it was possible, even briefly, it would have been a bit more believable, but overall, it just came across a fantasy story to me.

I really enjoyed reading Ender’s Game, however it made me sad about how Ender never got a chance to have a childhood. It seemed like his whole existence was for the purpose of being a commander great enough to save earth, robbing him of the childhood he could have had. However, it also made me wonder about the fact that if he would have had the opportunity to go to school and continue on like any other kid, what he would have turned out like. He was clearly very advanced for his age, so would him having a normal childhood just been a waste of his potential?  However, I also like how this story had a political element to it and showed how with the power of social media, one could gain a large following and influence, without people ever knowing who it was they are supporting.
