The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship, if any, between the socioeconomic status of New Yorkers and the types of dogs they owned. This included the sizes and breeds of the dogs, as well as the method through which they were obtained.
Data was collected from two neighborhoods with high socioeconomic standing (Tribeca, Manhattan and Forest Hills, Queens) as well as two neighborhoods with a lower socioeconomic standing (East Harlem, Manhattan and Flushing, Queens).
