Studies show that one’s perspective of the NYPD is attributed to many factors, including but not limited to: race, socioeconomic status (impoverished areas vs. wealthy areas), age, and previous experience with the police. Although, much research has been done on the attitudes of minority groups toward police, little research has been conducted on the perceptions of those not in the minority, specifically White or Caucasian New Yorkers.
