Group Project - Lolapocalypse

Joanna Kata and I, Lena Marvin, have decided our group project will be to create lolapocalypse imagry. Does anyone want to join our group?
Lolcat is a meme that comes out of the image macro tradition. As is stated in wikipedia's image macro article "An image macro is a picture with digitally superimposed text, often for humorous effect. ... Another style of image macro that has amassed its own separate subculture is the "lolcat", a photo of a cat with a humorous or idiosyncratic caption."
Here are some examples of lolcats which have incorparted apocalptic themes. We will create our own lolapocalypse photos in the lolcat style, using the lolcat synataxical grammar and visiual style, but using apolocylatic imagry from throughout history.

I found this one!

Oh I like this one so very much. A true American NRA Jesus? Charlton Heston is rolling his grave with delight and Michael Moore just dropped his camera. Bravo.

Here's one I made!
I used google image search and a lolcat image generator at http://mine.icanhascheezburger.com
I like this one, in particular the way it puts an apocalyptic voice/subject-position inside the bomb.

I think this is a clever idea and that there's a lot of potential for this project. Some thoroughly considered and well executed lolcats could together say and show a lot about apocalyptic thought.
The tendency of this project, as well as the movie proposals, is towards the humorous. What exactly is so funny about apocalyptic thought as you've studied it so far? Whatever that is, could it become the controlling idea for a cycle of lolcats that really brings it out? Would all of the lolcats be humorous, or could you explore other effects that are, say, more serious, sad, or caustic?
I think a series of lolcats that are thoroughly considered, that deliver their messages with punch, and are arranged in a meaningfully organized and unified gallery could make a very provacative project. It would be especially powerful if the gallery were organized to build up to some sort of comprehensive statement--though not too obvious.
Anyway, I'd love to know what you think about these suggestions and am looking forward to class today.
Also, any English majors might appreciate Geoffrey Chaucer's blog, particularly his entry on lolcats that makes fun of a site referred to in the third picture of your post: "I Can Hath Cheezburber?" See also "Internette Abbreviacounes" and "Ich pwne noobs!"
