Carnegie Hall: A Festival Celebrating Chinese Culture

Last Monday, we had our class visit to a performance at Carnegie Hall. The performance was a celebration of Chinese culture, featuring colorful and unpredictable music and a talented ensemble. When the lights dimmed, the show began and the stage looked like it was miles away. It transformed into a different scene that became a part of the artists' performace.

Oriental spices to classical flavors

“Ancient Path Modern Voices” is a festival celebrating Chinese culture organized by Carnegie Hall. Attending it was an experience that changed my perspective on the classical music. I, who am not very fond of traditional music, because as I am not musically educated I do not understand it, liked it. It is incredible to me that we are able to have a formal meeting with no other than the artistic director of one of the most prestigious artistic performance halls there is in NYC. Carnegie Hall has worldwide fame, and here we were, a group of Baruch freshman, at a conference table with a man of tremendous status.

A Day at the Hall

In anticipation of seeing an evening performance of the class of 78's compositions at the Weill Recital Hall, we met with Jeremy Geffen that afternoon at Carnegie Hall. The first thing I noticed upon entering the room was the gorgeous view--the canopy of Central Park, with its fall colors starting to settle in, like great puffs of red, orange, and yellow cotton candy within seemingly plucking distance. It was not long before Mr.
