Carnegie Hall
Submitted by Jolene on Mon, 11/02/2009 - 00:08I would love to have more to say about the Carnegie Hall concert, but classical music, although ACJW wasn't exactly classical, is not something that I can relate to or talk much about. I played many musical instruments as a child so I understand musical phrasing and can identify famous classical pieces but every single time that I go to a concert like that I fall asleep. I just cannot relate to that kind of music.

A fairy-tale where everything has its price
Submitted by Patty on Sun, 11/01/2009 - 23:23As we’ve been all saying since the beginning of this school year New York is a Mecca for arts. Lately, giving a tour of Greenwich Village to my French friend, I got inspired by another example of arts in NYC- store windows.
People become so creative in order to promote their merchandise that they create a form of art in their own genre. It is not only about the clothes they sell or the price they sell it for, but about the brand and its exposition. They use symbols that customers can assimilate with or status they desire to have.
Sounds of China: A New Experience at Carnegie Hall
Submitted by stephanie.lascano on Sun, 11/01/2009 - 23:12As a New Yorker, I must regretfully state that before Monday night, I had never been to Carnegie Hall. It had always been something I heard about, something enigmatic and profound that represented the pinnacle of success in the music world. If you had performed at Carnegie Hall, you were somebody worth listening to. After walking around the whole building and entering 2 out of the 3 entrances, I finally found my way to where I was supposed to be. The Ensemble ACJW event was being held in the Weill Recital Hall.
