I must confess I feel so special because I got to step into one of the secret rooms of a museum! It was awesome! I wonder how many other secret rooms the Museum has. It is always a privelege to be able to see the hidden sides of a museum that not everyone gets to see. The curator made a good point when she said that people don’t always take into consideration the people behind the scenes. The audience might think that these curators just choose different objects to display but they do so much more! I especially liked the fact that the career is so versitile. She really does all these different things. It seems like a really fun job. I wonder what you have to major in or what you have to do in college to get a job like that!
I never thought that prints had their separate world. People don’t hear much about the subject but the artists had to use this method first in order to keep advancing in their art. I appreciate so much more how hard the artists worked in carving out the images on wood and/or metals. It definitely takes a steady hand and much talent. That is evident. I found the fact that after many printings, the metal itself loses its fine lines interesting. Obviously, they would eventually–but it happens so quickly! For example, the Cruxificion prints really showed how much “wear and tear” the plates themselves went through and how that affected the print. I also found interesting that artists scratched out the images they don’t want! It was worthwhile finding out about a necessary step in art’s development.
