Blurb 4: Cirque Du Soleil “Wintuk”

[display_podcast]

I recently was fortunate enough to attend the Cirque Du Soleil Wintuk show in Madison Square Garden. I was always fascinated by acrobatics, but this performance truly exceeded my expectations. Not only was it an incredible artistic and breathtaking display of talent, but it also involved a touching storyline. It had everything you can ask for from a performance: a great plot, exuberant characters, and astounding stunts and acts.

The show follows a young and adventurous boy, Jamie, who goes on journey in order to bring snow back to his cold and dry city. So he decides to take a trip up North to an imaginary place called Wintuk in hopes of bringing the beloved snow back to his hometown. He is accompanied by a few individuals such as a Shaman with magical powers who also serves as our narrator, a young girl whom he soon falls for, and a shy man named Wimpy.  Along the way, he encounters all sorts of amusing characters, dancers, and acrobats. From his journey, Jamie learns a lot about himself and the courage that lies within him. Aerial acrobats, clowns, skaters, tightrope walkers and contortionists are just a few of the fantastic acts in the Wintuk show. Each act was unique and made me wonder how such stunts can be physically possible. The performers all seemed to defy the laws of gravity as they soared and flipped through the air effortlessly. The Wintuk show was anything but ordinary and is definitely an experience of a lifetime.

I read an nytimes article about this,it said it was quite wonderful and colorful. I’m glad to hear that they weren’t lying. Your podcast makes it look spectacular. Maybe I’ll be lucky too and get a ticket…but then again that’ll probably not happen.

AHH! I saw Wintuk at Madison Square garden. I really liked how they can incorporate skating into a show! Also, the “dog” looking creatures in the play was fascinating and everybody were so talented– the flips and ice skating moves were so precise and cool.

I’ve been to circuses, and I’ve seen theatre performances, but I have never seen them combined. Just by looking at the pictures in your podcast, I can see what you meant by defying the laws of gravity. The whole set and their costumes looked fantastic as well. What I find most interesting, though, is how it involves a storyline to go along with all these stunts.

Your podcast was beautiful ariella! All the pictures were so colorful and the music was absolutely perfect. I went to see Wintuk last winter and thought it was absolutely amazing. Cirque de soleil has an explainable power to transport the viewer into their magical world. I think with this podcast you were able to recreate the magical feeling Cirque de Soleil is known for. This is just as unbelievable as you make it sound!

I’ve heard about 100 things about the Cirque de Soleil, but I’ve never attended it myself. Your podcast makes it sound great; almost like you’re advertising for it! Got to check this out.
