Being a Princess for a Day

[display_podcast]

What would it be like to be a prince or princess? What would it be like to be at the top of the top and live in complete luxury, when castles are what every latest architect would design for your extravagant living conditions? I’m sure I’m not the only one who fantasized in being a princess living inside a castle when I was younger. I recently got the chance to satisfy my youthful daydreams by visiting the Wrightsman gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This gallery is full of royal French furniture from the late 17th century period. Different rooms were assembled with different types of furniture. The bedroom had an enormous tall cozy little bed full of rich sky blue silk. What was also interesting was the fact that the bed was smaller than normal; it looked like it was made for a child. The walls were carved with intricate classical design. There was also a guest room or a parlor. There were tea tables and little stools. There were even china cups and a teapot present. The windows were large and the curtains were covered with lots of flowery pattern. Meanwhile in a room nearby, there were music stands and at the corner a harp. Every aspect of the room was organized to make it look very believable. When I walked around this gallery, I believed that I was actually there. The environment opened to me and made me feel like a part of the exhibit. I definitely suggest anyone who wants to plan a trip to the MET to first check out the Wrightsman Gallery.
