Our project was done as a PowerPoint presentation and we recorded our narration over it in a video. Click this link to access the PowerPoint slides and recorded narration.
The goal of our project is to emphasize the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the moods of undergraduate college students, and discuss ways in which we can improve the outcome. Being students ourselves, we have a rough idea of the answer, but we wanted to conduct formal research in order to support our thoughts. Our hypothesis was that the pandemic has negatively impacted the moods of New York undergraduate college students, and to test this, we sent out a survey to undergraduate college students that received over 100 responses! Unfortunately, the results were mostly as expected – many students reported feeling more anxious, sad, fatigued, demotivated, etc., with some adding on that they felt hopeless or stuck in place. With these results supporting our hypothesis, we want this data to push universities and future researchers to provide better support systems for students, and work together to change these results for the better. Additionally, we hope this data reaches students so that they know they’re not alone in how they feel, and that there are people out there that wish to help them improve their mental health.
