Why did I choose this picture?
I enjoyed walking down the High Line, seeing all the different visual representations of art and expression. Out of all these works, however, Ryan Gander’s was by far my favorite. Not only do I appreciate the carving of the fountain itself, but also the unique innovation of combining a sculpture with a water fountain. This clever concept allowed for people to interact with the art. Most of the time when we think of art, we think of fragility. We are afraid to touch the art in the fear that we are ruining something beautiful. With this fountain, however, we are free to fully be engaged and have some fun with it. This is the reason why I chose this picture; to show not only the artwork itself, but also my interaction with it and the silliness that one can enjoy.
