It has been an insanely long time since I last updated. I apologize. It was completely unexpected. Well, here’s the last post for the year and the first for my return!
So, I am on winter break now. A long-needed break, I might add. If you have been following my posts, you probably know about my ridiculous schedule this fall semester. 19 credits! And I turned one of my courses into an honors course, for a total of two honors courses! Three foreign language courses (two in advanced French). And a science course. Phew. At the beginning, some of my courses were very tiring, a bit difficult, and academically-challenging. But still manageable. Towards the last two months, however, things got a bit crazy and out of control. Assignment on top of assignment. It never ends!!! It came to the point where I could no longer plan my work ahead of time. Instead, I was taking everything on day by day. I only do that when I am desperate. And boy was I desperate. At one point, I was writing two papers every week with only a week’s notice of the topic. On top of that, I was juggling other projects and large research assignments. I even completed a 15-paged graduate level research paper! Then came finals. And somehow, through all this craziness, I still managed to squeeze in time for pleasure reading. One of the books that I read for fun was Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood. I think I’m a bit late on the Murakami train, but better now than never. Besides, who cares if I follow what’s popular? Certainly not me. Anyways, I thought the book was fantastic. I highly recommend it.
Now, I’m just waiting on half of my grades. So far, so good. But the anxiety is killing me. I have not yet received my grades for my hardest courses. Egad.
I just came back from a little trip to Atlanta (where I saw whale sharks!) and now I’m ready to post again! Yay! Actually, I was ready to post before I left to Atlanta, but I didn’t want to post until I got my two new sites up and running. Meet my babies:
Journaling Victoria and Victoria Goes to Paris!
The former is a blog of short posts, some quite similar to the things I post on here. Essentially, what I would put in my “Cup of Tea” category is now on this separate site. However, it’s a lot more casual and simple and superficial. Haha I don’t know any better way to put it. Just a mash of the little things in my life that probably amount to something. But that something, I know not.
The latter is my long thought-of study abroad eportfolio! I have been dying to create it, however, I could never think up a good URL. I am pretty satisfied with the name. However, I might change the title of my eportfolio some time in the future. I really want something witty and original. But I couldn’t come up with anything for the past year. Who knows if I’ll ever come up with anything. Anyways, the site is still in major planning mode, but I wanted to share it with you. There are lots of the things I want to change about the layout and some of my ideas are still in drafting mode. So, it’ll be a while until my blog reaches its final stage (or not so much final because I will constantly update it, but “final” – when my plausible ideas have been carried out), but it will most definitely be finished by the time I leave the country in August!
I also remember in my last post, I said my next post would be about my trip to the Transit Museum. I have not forgotten! It is still in draft mode, but will come out of hiding soon. I just thought this little update post would be more suited as the next post. I can’t pretend as if I didn’t randomly just go into hibernation. I must explain myself! But really, it was probably because I was partially lazy, partially a procrastinator, partially disorganized, and partially swamped with school work. But I’m back and that’s all that matters.
So, with this, I bid thee adieu. And a happy new year! To a year of great expectations, unforgettable adventures, achieving goals, memorable reads, Japanese dramas, advanced knowledge, more frequent and better eportfolio posts, greater appreciation, lots of love, and a more confident and improved Victoria Tang!
For the featured photo, I took it whilst on top of Stone Mountain in Georgia. To new heights (both literally and figuratively)!
