This is Winter in Union Square by Hassam. It took a little wile to find the place in the picture because the scenery has changed a little bit. It was really difficult to find the same places in Union Square, especially now that its so crowded and much more modern. We walked around and tried to use the direction the cars were going and the different buildings in order to capture the same thing that Hassam painted. I chose Union Square because I often have to walk through it in order to get back to the dorms, and Hassam’s paintings portrayed a very different image than what Union Square is today. There are many more cars/taxis, the people were dressed differently, there are more buildings, and the roads are paved. I feel that we were able to capture a picture that at least somewhat resembled the painting Winter in Union Square.
