Di Yunge literally translated means “the Youth.” The movement began in 1907. The main leaders of this era were Mani Leib, and Moyshe Leib Halpern. They all started a magazine called Yugend. They tried as much as possible to not connect with politics. They didn’t speak for national ideals. Most of them were Shop workers, and few had non-religious education. They mostly communicated with writers within their own language. They separated themselves from the other journalistic publishings. They followed this idea of wanting to purify the Yiddish language and even got rid of Germanisms in the Yiddish language in their writings. They mostly focused on Hebrew portions of Yiddish. They focused more on playing with the language of Yiddish rather than the forms of Poetry. Their writing didn’t really have subject matter. They followed this idea of “pure Poetry”.
