Marianismo

Introduction:

Marianismo is society’s stereotypical portrayal of women. While males are independent, determined, aggressive, and heroic, women are often characterized with unselfishness, kindness, frankness and truthfulness. Complimentary to the overglorified view of men was the idea that women are to be subservient and obedient to men. Catholicism had also been regarded as male-dominant.
