I Fell Out of Love With it

Published by Nathaly Martinez under Uncategorized

I had such high expectations for the Fall for Dance Festival because the people in the cover of the Play Bill looked so energetic and passionate but boy was I wrong.I think that the fact that the first performance was so confusing, made me feel unwilling to even try to understand the others because I figured that they would be too complex. There was too much going on at once in the first dance and I just wanted there to be a focus so that I could formulate and actual opinion on it. I don’t think the order was very effective. The last dance was amazing and it caught the audience’s attention, including mine, which I was very surprised about. I still feel that I did not enjoy as much as I could have because I was  discouraged by the long and confusing performnaces i had seen previously. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that if the last dance had been first, I, as well as other audience members would have liked the show a lot more. They would be so intrigued by the first scene that they would be anxious to understand what was going to happen next.

I don’t necessarily dislike ballet, but I was definitely let down by the Fall For Dance festival. It did not help  that I was extremely anxious to leave because of how long it was; the New York Times agrees with me.

Not all of them were way too long Zerxis.

I liked the fourth one because it actually went by pretty quickly, and made me sit up in my seat, but I didn’t really like the other ones (except for possibly the third one– which was somewhat alright).

True, not only were the dances unappealing, but they were just way too long.

I truly agree with that, everyone couldn’t even enjoy the last dance since the other three put them to sleep. Plus, I the dances were so long yet they said nothing.

I agree that the order was ineffective also! It seemed like the first and the third ones were more similar but I don’t know why they separated them. I wonder if they did it intentionally.

As Samantha said, the first dance really made no sense. With a performance having such a weak introduction, it makes it hard for the audience to pay attention to the rest of the show. I am glad that there was the intermission that allowed us to refocus and wake up.

I completely agree, the first dance was embarrassing and unbearably long; but if the last dance everyone would have been snoring by the time the show ended.
