Final presentations schedule

The final presentation week is here! Please read carefully – following the instructions will help make this a successful event.

Presenters, please arrive a few minutes prior to class start, so 3:20-3:25pm, on the day of your presentation in order to set up A/V equipment. EVERYBODY is expected to be in their seats by 3:30pm, so we can go over logistics together. Those who will not present will judge presentations – everybody needs to attend all presentations. Our guest judges have received the following schedule:

Tuesday, May 12

3:40-4:10 The future of policing

4:10-4:40 The future of work

Thursday, May 14

3:40-4:10 A gender lens on economic growth

4:10-4:40 New approaches to public health

I look forward to seeing the results of your hard work this semester! Good luck!!!

Readings added for New Approaches to Public Health

Please skim as much material as possible for tomorrow’s class.

Judging criteria for project presentations

As you get ready for your first presentations this afternoon, please familiarize yourselves with the criteria we will use to judge your presentations! Project Presentation Judging Criteria

Reminder: Class meets 3:00-4:15pm today

In order to allow you to attend the lecture by Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, class will start at 3pm and finish at 4:15pm. The lecture commences at 4:30pm in the Great Hall.

Class meets in SH 107 today

A reminder that we will meet with guest speaker Kim Wales in SH 107 today.

Guest speakers next week

We will have two guest speakers next week:

Tue, Apr. 14 – Arielle Kandel from New Women New Yorkers

Thu, Apr. 16 – Kim Wales from Wales Capital (please also read this interview with her)

Tomorrow: Workshop, continued

Hi All, we will continue with the group projects workshop tomorrow, and if there is time, start with the new topic. It looks like there won’t be a site visit for this topic, so we will use this extra class to make sure you’re well equipped for your group projects. Please refer to the new version of the syllabus for changes in assignment due dates.

New readings added

Please review the readings for tomorrow’s discussion, and be ready to talk about the problems you have identified relating to the future of work.

Guest speaker tomorrow: Debera Johnson from bkaccelerator.com in SH 107

A reminder that tomorrow we will have Debera Johnson from the Brooklyn Design & Fashion Accelerator visit our class. I have also invited social entrepreneurship students from the Colin Powell School, so we’ll have a slightly larger group and will meet in SH-107 instead of our regular classroom.

Please have your questions ready: Don’t wait for me to prompt you. There are no wrong questions, as long as you come prepared – please review the website http://bkaccelerator.com/ and the speaker http://www.fitnyc.edu/12367.asp .

Site visit today is cancelled: Class meets during regular time

Due to the winterstorm, we won’t be visiting the Centre for Social Innovation today. Unless CCNY cancels classes this afternoon, we’ll meet during regular class time in SH-01 instead. Monika Mitchell from CSI will join us virtually.

Please stay tuned for updates!
