MUSEUM OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK/AIDS AT HOME

This exhibit was a video of a family consisting of a gay couple and their adopted son (who was one of the father’s sister’s son) and it told the story of how the couple ended up raising a boy who tested positive for HIV. I personally liked this exhibit the most because it really showed how a family that is dealing with the effects of AIDS can still live like any other family, and it breaks the stigma that AIDS makes it impossible to live a normal, average life. It also struck me how this video was created at a time where being able to see into the homes of people living with AIDS was almost unheard of. The situation and effect of this video really stood out to me and I think that it would help to break the stigma that still exists around AIDS if more content like this was made and broadcasted to the public.
