In a sentence, The Bands Visit is a film based in Israel about a group of men who get lost on the way to a performance due to a language barrier.  The plot of the movie is consistent of that with the musical, bringing a new dimension to the work. The musical was more of a comedy and overall to me seemed more upbeat than the movie which was more of a drama. Some plot points were made clearer in the movie than the musical and vice versa. For example, in the movie Dina and Sammy didn’t have a confrontation in the park like they did in the musical, this displayed more character development in Dina because we get to see what her life is like on a day to day basis. And in the movie rather than the musical we see more minor details being played out because in the musical something small would have to be cut to make room for a song or a transition.
