I was very surprised at my reaction to “Madama Butterfly”. Initially I expected it to be very boring with one or two people singing the entire time. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the production that went behind this opera and how grand everything felt. I think part of the true essence of the opera is the way that they can make a simple line such as “bring the tea” sound so important.
