John Berger proposed the idea that “nudity is a form of dress.” As I wandered around the museum, I came across this model in the “Unbuilt New York” exhibit that struck me as the perfect explanation of Berger’s proposition. The building is covered in a translucent sheath, which acts as a kind of “clothing” for the building’s “skin” at the same time it makes you aware of the “nakedness” of nearly all other buildings.
